The Department of Education hosted a one-day training workshop for English teachers in conjunction with the U.S. Embassy

Under the leadership of Minister of Education Harjot Singh Bains, efforts are being made by the Department of Education to train public school teachers internationally. A one-day workshop on effective teaching of English teachers in schools and their observations was organized by the Regional English Language Office (RELO) New Delhi in collaboration with the United States Embassy of America in the Head Office conference room under the supervision of the State Director. Punjab Educational Research and Training Council.

Occasional SCERT Director. Dr. Maninder Singh Sarkaria from Punjab said the Regional English Language Office (RELO) started operating from June 2022 to provide English language training to government school teachers. Along with this, teachers working in schools receive detailed information on other things to keep in mind when teaching English. He said that in the near future, the Regional English Language Office (RELO) would also launch a six-month certificate course, which only selected teachers could attend. He said that RELO has successfully run teacher training programs in collaboration with the Delhi government since 2017. Ruth Goode, Regional English Language Manager, Regional English Language Office (RELO), New Delhi, in collaboration with the Embassy of the United States of America, said they would appreciate this training workshop. It was a pleasure to meet a group of talented, hardworking and motivated teachers from Punjab. These teachers are passionate about learning. She thanked Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary and Director General of School Education, and Dr. Maninder Singh Sarkaria, Director of SCERT, for this event. Madison Nunes also shared her international teaching experience with teachers. Certificates were also awarded to teachers who participated in this training workshop by the Regional English Language Office (RELO) New Delhi in collaboration with the US Embassy.
