IIT Roorkee Launches Free Online GNSS Course
IIT Roorkee launches a free online course on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and applications on the NPTEL platform, as reported by a technology website. The 4 week course will provide a basic understanding of Digital Elevation Models (DEM) and their application in Civil Engineering and Earth Sciences.
Participants will get an overview of various DEMs, their source, generation techniques, derivatives, errors and limitations.
The course will be led by Dr. Arun K. Saraf, who is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at IIT, Roorkee. He teaches courses on remote sensing, digital image processing, geographic information systems (GIS), advanced GIS, geomorphology and other related subjects to undergraduate and postgraduate students in geological technology and applied geology. He holds a PhD in remote sensing from the University of Dundee, UK.
The course is open to anyone with basic knowledge of GIS and remote sensing, it is most suitable for:
- Current Undergraduate and Postgraduate Engineering Students
- Postgraduate science students
- PhD students and researchers
Classes will start on July 26, 2021 and end on August 20, 2021. Registration is currently open until August 2, 2021 and can be done via SWAYAM platform.
