IIST Invites Applications for a Free Online Course in Advanced Geocomputing Techniques
The IIST is inviting applications from interested candidates for a free online course in Advanced Geoinformatics Techniques, which will cover the concepts of artificial intelligence and informatics for GIS and remote sensing. The course was sponsored by AICTE Training and Learning Academy (ATAL). The course is part of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) GeoConnect Faculty Development Program 2020.
The course is delivered because the current and future practices of faculty members require high-level knowledge and interaction with contemporary developments in technological methods, hardware, computing platforms and integration of high performance computing approaches and open source, says the IIST. Particular emphasis will be placed on advanced image processing, 3D GIS visualization, Python and R programming for geospatial data analysis, artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithm, etc.

Faculty members of All India Council for Technical Education approved institutions, researchers, postgraduate scholars, bureaucrats, technicians, industry participants, government participants, etc. can apply for the course online.
Important dates and other details
There is no registration fee for the course as it is sponsored by AICTE Training and Learning Academy (ATAL). As there is a limited number of registrations that will be allowed, IIST advised interested participants to apply early as applicants will be approved on a first come, first served basis. The deadline for online registration on the AICTE ATAL website is October 25, 2020, and confirmation notice will be given no later than October 28, 2020.
