IIRS organizes a free online course on space technology for teachers

Mahababad: The Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), a constituent unit of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), is to organize a free online space technology course titled “Space Technology and Applications” for teachers from May 31 to June 4, 2021.
In a press note here on Saturday, Dr. V Gurunadha Rao, a government teacher and science communicator from Mahabubabad district, said the course aims to raise awareness and build the capacity of teachers on the use of space technology and its apps. He urged teachers to take advantage of this opportunity.
“Online applications for the course commenced on the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing website on 5th May 2021. Interested applicants should note that only limited places are available for the online course and hence learners will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. base. However, candidates can apply for another seven days,” he added.
Those unable to register can also watch the classes live on the IIRS-Edusat YouTube channel. Interesting topics such as planetary science, space technology and the Indian space program, satellite communication and navigation technology and its applications, remote sensing applications in governance, astronomy and space science and many more others will be covered under this online program. Teachers who teach grades 9-12 standards from all school boards can take this free online course. It will be very useful for teachers teaching science, mathematics or geography.

Participants reaching 70% attendance will receive a certificate of attendance during the IIRS-ISRO course. The participant will receive a certificate in their email. The online sessions delivered under this program are interactive and delivered by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from ISRO and other renowned international institutes. Online courses are delivered through an indigenous active learning platform, namely IIRS Electronic Collaborative Learning and Knowledge Sharing (E-CLASS) System.
