Taiwan opens its doors to Pinoy English teachers
AS many as 450 Filipino English teachers could soon be hired in Taiwan after its Ministry of Education (MOE) launched the Taiwan Foreign English Teacher Program (TFETP).
In a statement, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said there was a massive recruitment of foreign English teachers and teaching assistants in Taiwan.
“For 2022, the MOE is opening 450 teaching positions in public schools to foreign English teachers,” the DOLE said.
“This aims to establish an English-speaking environment for primary and secondary students, as well as to improve the English teaching skills of local teachers,” he added.
The DOLE said the monthly salary for English teachers under the program starts at NT$62,720 or 115,122.25 pesos, with the rate based on the teacher’s highest level of education and their years of full-time teaching experience.
Benefits include travel subsidy, health insurance and other benefits.
Those qualified to apply are competent English speakers with a bachelor’s degree or above and who must not have a criminal record.
The DOLE said the Department of Education does not require the Department of Education to hold a teaching license or state-issued credentials.
Interested foreign teachers can apply online at https://tfetp.epa.ntnu.edu.tw, the DOLE said.
Recruitment for 2022 is open continuously until March 31, 2022, the DOLE added. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
