English teachers from a Wiltshire school are in the running for the top prize

FOURTEEN English teachers from a secondary school in West Wiltshire could be in the running for an Excellence in Education award.

The English Department at John of Gaunt School in Trowbridge has been shortlisted for the Times Educational Supplement’s English Team of the Year.

The award will recognize the achievements and efforts of an English team or an English teacher over the past academic year.

Paul Skipp, Principal of John of Gaunt School, said: “This is a wonderful achievement and a testament to our Head of English, Gemma Gilvin and her fantastic English faculty.

“Over the past two years we have developed an incredibly ambitious English program and we have been delighted to see our students flourish and make significant progress.”
